bear and chicken - preschool family cooking class

  • Schoolhouse Kitchen + Studio 349 Ashland Avenue River Forest, IL, 60305 United States (map)

We’ll make a summery minestrone soup inspired by this silly and funny book about 2 friends.

What do kids love more than cooking?
Storytime!

We love combining fun and inspiring foodie books and delicious recipes for our young chefs. It's a great way to spend the morning with your little one as we explore a new recipe.

"When Bear finds a chicken frozen in the winter snow, he brings it home to try to defrost it. As Chicken thaws-um, awakens-he fears that Bear is actually prepping to eat him. Oh no!
It's almost time for lunch, so Chicken makes a run for it! But in the end, Chicken learns that perhaps he too quickly jumped to conclusions. This funny and clever friendship tale teaches kids that things are not always as they seem, while learning a thing or two about making soup with a friend!”

Young Chefs will love chopping and prepping a pile of bright summer veggies to make a delicious Summer Minestrone Soup together and we'll taste and talk about veggies as we work! We’ll also make beautiful focaccia with our garden herbs to enjoy with our soup!

We'll read the book while the food is cooking.

Registration includes 1 adult and 1 child (you only need to register 1 person) If you'd like to bring 2 kids, please add one on at check out for $25. They will make soup + bread, too.

You don't need to bring anything but may bring aprons/ water bottles if you like.
