Join us for a special cooking camp where kids will celebrate the legacy of Black chefs James Hemings and Edna Lewis! Campers will learn about these culinary pioneers as we make Macaroni & Cheese for lunch and Buttermilk Marble Cake for dessert.
They'll learn about James Hemings, the French-trained enslaved chef for Thomas Jefferson who was known for his Macaroni Pie (now known as Mac & Cheese), and Edna Lewis, an advocate for Black Southern cooking through her cookbooks and restaurants. Her Buttermilk Marble Cake is famous!
Alongside cooking, kids will enjoy games and crafts, making this camp a fun, educational, and delicious celebration of culture and creativity!
